This rhumb line design was created by Jessica Pigza and appears in her book BiblioCraft. She was inspired by the rhumb lines on nautical maps used by sailors for navigation. A rhumb line is actually a curve that crosses each meridian at the same angle, but on a Mercator projection chart, rhumb lines appear straight.
The eye-pleasing, modern geometric design has been hand-stitched with sashiko embroidery thread onto a dark indigo linen cotton. It has a medium-weight canvas cotton backing for added stability, and four loops for hanging onto a dowel. The effect is quite visually stunning.
This exquisite handmade piece can be considered a personal "touchstone", if you will, that you can do hard things, and that you can always find your way when you're feeling lost.
Measures 103.5 x 104.5 cm, plus 10 cm for the loops. Dowel is not included. Please allow for 5-7 days for production.
