Jesmonite is a composite material comprised of gypsum and a water-based acrylic resin. It was invented in the United Kingdom in 1984 as a safe alternative to fibreglass and as a lightweight alternative to cast concrete. It is extremely durable and makes for an interesting product material. The finished surface resembles plaster.
Each coaster is handmade from start to finish and features a cork bottom that prevents sliding and furniture damage. Coasters are sealed with a silky smooth acrylic matte sealer. Slight colour or texture anomalies are normal.
